Geneva Academy

Partnering with Parents

Geneva Academy is a private, Parent-based Christian School whose purpose is to provide its students with college preparatory courses from a Christian perspective in a Christian environment. This approach is accomplished through an educational format that makes provision for both trained classroom instruction and individualized parent involvement.

1. General

The Christian Objective of Geneva Academy is to provide students, parents, and staff with a Christian environment that is conducive to the Christian growth and maturity of all.

2. Statement of Faith

a. Jesus of Nazareth, born of the virgin Mary, died and was raised from the dead.  He now has a real and physical human body.  Jesus was crucified under the Romans; his death accomplished the redemption of sinners and atonement for their sins.  Jesus’ death was for his people.  It was substitutionary (1 Peter 2-3; Isaiah 53-56).

b. We believe that all humans are sinners.  All are born of the seed of Adam into sin, death and misery.  Only through faith in Jesus is there an escape from the curse of this doomed condition.

c. We believe in the Trinity.  There is only one God, always and eternally three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30).   The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God — and there is yet only one God.  The Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is not the Father, and thus we sing the doxology: “God in Three Persons, Blessed Trinity.”

d. We believe the Bible—both Old and New Testament—to be the Word of God: inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant (2 Timothy 3:15; 2 Peter 1:21).  We reject the methods and teachings of systems, such as higher criticism, which postulate evolutionary processes and ongoing editorial work to the development and final shape of various books of the Bible.  We believe that all of the books ascribed to the apostle Paul were indeed written by the apostle Paul.  God alone orchestrated the production of the infallible Scriptures, even as he used humans in the writing and development thereof.

e. We believe that the miracles recorded in the Bible are true and factual events (they really happened).

f. We believe in the real bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are redeemed unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5: 28-29)

g. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8: 9: 1 Corinthians 12: 12-13; Galatians 3: 26-28).

h. We believe in the redemptive work of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is united and made alive with the Church and equipped to worship Jesus and thus live a godly life (Romans 8: 13-14: 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30; 5:18).  The godly life is the Christ-life.  This includes healthy relationships with Christians, regular worship with other believers (Heb 10), care for the widow and orphan, daily bearing of the cross of Christ, and remaining unstained from idolatry.  Christians love what Christ loves: His bride, the Church.

i. We believe that God is both Savior and Judge (Acts 17).  He is both loving and avenging (Nahum 1:2).   He is to be adored and feared (Proverbs 3:7).

j. We believe what is stated in the Nicene Creed.
